After a bit of a stressful year with a long wait to finally move to a new home, we were all struggling with maintaining focus on training. Eli became even more of ‘barker’ in the car and even short journeys were fraught with anxiety...and cross humans! Thanks for your help and guidance again Steve; I’ve relayed everything to David and he and Eli are currently ‘searching’ for a teabag (cheese is too easy now!). I feel much more confident just from going over things today and we’ll keep you updated. If anyone is looking to be helped to understand ‘dog’ then Steve is just the person to help YOU to help your furry friend 👍read more
Steve spent over 6 hours with us and our 7 month old staffy x mastiff, Hector today going over all our training needs, covering a wide variety of things.
Hector has been a generally well behaved dog but had shown some possessive tendencies which we wanted to address immediately to prevent escalation, and also wanted to "fine - tune" our training to make sure we were giving hector the correct direction in life.
Steve has given us the tools to address these issues and the confidence to move forward with the right training techniques.
Can't be happier and will be highly recommend all dog owning friends to invest in a day with Steve, who's fee is much lower than it should be given the value of his work.read more
We would recommend Steve he is really good with dogs and teaching owners. Its a week now and Nero walks to heel without pulling as if he never pulled. I am more confident walking him and we have met a few dogs without me going into melt down. Best training ever.read more
We contacted Steve at Rehabilitation and training for help with our one year old French bulldog Rocco.
Rocco had been quite dominant and was using aggression to get his own way. He was snapping at all members of the household (all adults), but was fine out on walks meeting other dogs and their owners. The behaviour was only towards members of the household, but not visitors to the house.
Steve came and carried out a thorough assessment of the families interaction with Rocco. We have not had a dog before so there was a lot to learn, even though Rocco had completed puppy training courses.
Steve spent time with all of the family and together we learned how to get things back on track.
Rocco used to bark at any cars or people walking across the front of our house, but he now responds when we acknowledge his alert following up with ‘quiet’.
Rocco now stays on his touch mat when asked, in order that a caller at the door can be seen without Rocco fighting to get there first!
Rocco also stays on his touch mat when it’s time to prepare dinner, where before he would jump up constantly.
Steve has encouraged us to use a small lead when allowing Rocco into the living room to assist with asking him to get ‘off’ the sofa, as he would storm into the room and protect his seat. Now Rocco successfully waits to be asked up onto the sofa and the ‘off’ command is no longer needed.
In addition to the tasks indoors, Steve has given advice and demonstrated getting Rocco to walk to heal. Rocco grasped this very quickly. This has been a huge success and all the family are now much more confident in taking Rocco out!
We can not thank or recommend Steve enough. We were aware that the problems were created in the main by us and not Rocco, but we have managed to turn things round. This of course is an ongoing process.
Just to add, Rocco has just spent a week at a doggy hotel while we were on holiday. He has been well behaved during this time. Rocco has also maintained what he has been taught and things are carrying on in the same vein - onwards and upwards.
Thank you Steve for your understanding and patience. Rocco should now be able to enjoy his home life and his family have a much better understanding of his needs.read more
Thoroughly recommend Steve, he is a really nice guy who is fantastic with dogs. He came to help us with our rescue Harry and his territorial barking which was getting out of hand. Steve was able to teach us in three hours how to communicate to Harry some simple, positive but very effective ways to stop the barking. Obviously Harry is still allowed to bark, as dogs should, but we can now quieten him and calm him down when we need to which is good for us but also very good for Harry as he doesn’t need to be as stressed out. The session was worth every penny. A big thank you to Steve.read more

A valuable day spent with Steve who worked his magic with my two young boisterous Irish setters. By the end of the day they were calmer and listening. We recently had Steve come to help with our Hungarian vizsla who has a behavioural/aggression problem.
He spent 9 hours with us, literally taking us back to basics to instil discipline from us to our dog. It was clear that we needed ‘training’ too as we had allowed our dog to dominate us through over loving and our naivety as first time owners.
He’s a lovely, genuine man who is very easy to get along with and we felt we learned a lot from his extensive knowledge.
It’s a great benefit that he emails a comprehensive dossier of all the techniques and procedures afterwards to enable you to refer back to.
He is also happy to advise further via telephone or email.
We would highly recommend Steve.

Our 14 month old Jack Russell, Maisie, had an excellent Initial Consultation with Steve. We had particular behavioural issues with Maisie which we wanted to address and these were covered as part of a whole package of training techniques which were clearly and patiently demonstrated and practised. We had been a little anxious about how Maisie would react to Steve on his arrival but he very soon had her calm and attentive. Steve is very personable but clearly also very knowledgeable and experienced with training dogs so the consultation was both enjoyable and helpful and we covered a lot in the one session. It is easy to forget details when covering numerous training techniques, so the follow-up detailed report will be a very helpful reference for us. Steve had been recommended to us by two people on separate occasions and we can see why. We would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who wants help or advice with training their dog.read more

Steve came to meet my 15 month old Westie yesterday. She had decided she wanted to be top female and look after me on her terms. She was definitely well on her way to achieving her ambition and used every means to get there, even biting.
Steve spent all day with us and put up with my constant questioning about dog psychology. By the time our day was over Mabel was walking beautifully to heal, and obeying EVERY command with ease for Steve and ME!! I couldn't believe this well behaved dog was mine. I used a crate for her when she was a tiny puppy but she hated it. Steve said he could make her like it and I really thought he would fail but yet again, he made her love it and now she spends most of her sleeping time snuggled up in there with her cushions around her. As for the growling and biting I have been educated on how to cope with this. She did give me a couple of nasty warning growls last night and she was humainly punished. She hasn't done it since.
I highly recommend Steve no matter what the problem, he really knows his stuff and it shows how much he cares about dogs.

Steve is an excellent behaviourist and trainer bringing his years of police dog handling, training and education into his technique. His obvious understanding and love of dogs guides his actions. Finn immediately reacted to Steve, he relaxed and looked to Steve for guidance, relieved not to be top dog. A positive and busy day followed. It sounds easy but Steve really knows what he is doing and it is focused and hard work. Finn and I learned so much and have already made progress. Steve came to see us yesterday and spent over 5 hours with myself my partner and my 2 demanding pooches! We have seen 2 other trainers before and our dogs have been to residential training for 4 weeks without us! We were at our whits end and not sure what else to do! Steve took the time to explain everything in detail with us, the changes we need to make to understand our dogs and so the dogs understand us, take the dogs for a walk and show us many different tips for a fraction of the price I have spent elsewhere (we have litrally wasted thousands on other trainers wish we had found steve much sooner!) We have problems with jumping up, claiming the bed and sofa as their own, lead pulling, barking, aggression towards it other dogs ect! feels like you name it it's one of our issues and we were u sure what else we could possible do to make owning our dogs enjoyable! Alot of information was given to us in that amount of time (maybe too much to take in at once) so were looking forward to receiving our written report with guides in there to help us! don't get me wrong it's not a quick fix or miracle but most defo a step in the right direction and me and my partner have both said we both feel so much more positive now- especially knowing we can call Steve for advice or other sessions if we need too! managed to take the dogs out separately tonight for around 45 minutes with lead training and 'me time' for them too we saw other dogs and people with minimal stress/fuss (from us and them) including exploring our local area more which is a massive step for us! Couldn't recommend Steve anymore!! I'll be back in a few months to say how were doing! Thanks again!!!read more

We adopted Nelly a week ago, not knowing anything about her past, or even what she is - looks like a staffie, could be staffie cross and think she’s about 6/7 months old.
She’s settled in well with my 11 year old lab, bus has separation anxiety when she’s left, which is stressful for all. She’s also not had a great deal of training so I was keen to get pointers from Steve so we could put those into action.
Steve spent over four hours here today, talking through the best way to try and help Nelly over come this issue, and what we as a family need to do to help her. He also helped with lead waking, and gave me advice on other areas of training like recall, when to praise, when to ignore etc.
At no point did I feel that Steve was trying to rush things, or squeeze everything into a time slot, he had all the time needed.

Our lead-reactive boy had two much less stressful daytime walks today and has learnt three new tricks - “stay”, “quiet” and go to “bed” - which have helped him to be much calmer when the doorbell goes. We would highly recommend Steve’s services. He was extremely professional, informative and a really nice guy. Steve visited us today to work with our Rough Collie, Sylvie, who was rescued from Romania 18 months ago. We have been experiencing a variety of unusual issues which all come down to a lack of confidence. She has been refusing to leave the sofa unless asked, won't drink in front of us, sometimes won't eat, and is terrified when she is anywhere in the house, except "her" sofa. We have had 4 collies before and have never experienced anything like this, and after 16 months of working with her, and having advice from other trainers, we were at the point of giving up and, literally, letting sleeping dogs lie! Steve was recommended by a friend, and I have to say, was a breath of fresh air. He came with no preconceptions, and was not judgemental in any way. He had to totally reverse the advice he usually gives to people, and I felt that he worked not only with Sylvie, but also with me as an individual. He was with us for 6 hours, and took time to assess what he saw on the day, as well as taking into account my opinion. By half way through the appointment, Sylvie was happily lying in the kitchen, in her dog bed, a place where she had never before ventured without scuttling through the room in a panic, despite bribery with treats of cheese. We now have a plan firmly in place in order to make her comfortable in different rooms in the house, one at a time, and I'm pleased to say that she is sleeping next to me in the kitchen, despite all doors being open - she has chosen to be with me. Thank you Steve - from me and Sylvie. Xread more

Steve came recommended. I took my dog Ozzy on as a rescue and he had some behavioural issues when on the lead and meeting other dogs. He's a big dog so I was also anxious about keeping him under control when out for walks and meeting other dogs.Steve spent a good 5 hours explaining ways in which to change his behaviour, both at home and when out. Steve has a reassuring and professional manner that you feel you can trust. He came on a walk to observe Ozzy and a dog came running up while we were out and Ozzy didn't react. It was that quick of a change. Steve explained that I need to also change my reaction to these situations to try to keep everything calm.
It's been over 3 weeks since our consultation and Ozzy is making great progress. We recently got a Romanian street dog from a local rescue centre and as first time dog owners, we were struggling with her for the first few days and were thinking of taking her back.
She was never aggressive but kept nipping, we couldn't eat food in peace as she'd jump at us, the walks consisted of us being dragged round the streets, having to have a wrestling match with her for me to leave the front door for work in the mornings and it got to stage where my partner had to sit on my lap in a single seat whilst the dog had the three seater sofa to herself cause she was such a pain if we tried sitting on it. Then we decided to call Steve and we're so glad we did.
He's obviously very knowledgeable and with teaching us and her clear instructions and showing us how we should be more dominant, it's made such a difference already. We have experienced some amazing training techniques for our 3 boys today. We are very hopeful that they will all succeed in their training. We have our hands full with a daschund , jack Russell cross and a bulldog cross staffy, and really needed some professional help. From barking, aggression, jumping up and no discipline , we have finally had the help we urgently needed. Thanks very much for all your help Steve and we will keep in touch.read more
We have a 8 month old Staffordshire bull terrier who is very loving, but mischievous. We were finding him really hard work but since Steve came and worked with us, he has changed so much for the better! I am beginning to be able to really enjoy my dog and walking him on a lead 🙂 Steve is so friendly and by the time he left, I felt confident that things were going to change for the better and we were going to have the dog we always wanted in Stanley! I 100% recommend Steve, he is really enthusiastic and you can really tell he loves what he does 🙂 My dog loved him straight away 🙂read more
